What do I wear for the concert?
What you wore all day. Dress comfortably! There is no required color or style. We do ask that you not wear any perfume/cologne/scents. Many of the rehearsal spaces are small and strong scents can be overwhelming.
Do I need a music stand?
Not required, but if you have a favorite stand, feel free to bring it.
I'm bringing 17 flutes. Is there a safe place to leave them?
Yes, there will be a locked room to store your flutes, and someone available to unlock if you need them.
Can I invite family and friends to the concert?
YES, PLEASE invite your family, friends, students and anyone else to the 8 PM concert! Crowell Hall seats 414 people. Let’s fill it! No tickets needed.
What's the food situation?
Water/drinks and light snacks will be provided. We unfortunately will not be able to accommodate dietary restrictions. Please bring a bagged lunch; you may bring your own dinner, or a credit/debit card (no cash) for the student dining center, located across the street from Crowell. All-you-can-eat meals cost $10.50.
I have a music-related business. Can I advertise and sell my stuff?
There will be no vendors or merchandising. However, we will have a table on which you may leave a flyer or business card of products or services you have to offer. For example, a flute studio, masterclasses, web seminars, repair work, a particular instrument for sale, CDs, your publications, etc. Only flyers, posters, free samples, and business cards will be allowed. NO MERCHANDISE FOR SALE, or live announcements of services, products, etc.
Will the concert be recorded?
The evening concert will be video recorded, privately, and uploaded to YouTube, as an unlisted file (only people with a link will be able to see it), strictly for your personal enjoyment. An official Wesleyan photographer may come photograph the event. Participants under the age of 18 must sign the release form. Adult participants, if you have any objections, please let us know and we will make sure to request no photos. The University will NOT be making any official audio or video recordings.
